About the Project

Piedmont’s original Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan (PBMP) was adopted in November 2014. The PBMP identified a set of projects and other recommendations to make walking and biking in Piedmont safer, easier and more popular.

The new plan—Piedmont Safer Streets—will evaluate the old recommendations and develop new ones to address emerging community needs, concerns and expectations. Importantly, the new plan will also examine the community’s broader traffic safety concerns, not just those directly related to walking and biking.

February 2021 update

The City recently gathered input from residents on the needs and challenges around walking, biking and traffic safety in Piedmont. A report summarizing the key issues and themes raised by the public is available on the Documents page of this website. All the comments that were received in writing are listed in a set of appendices to the report.

The project team is now using the input to develop the recommendations under the Piedmont Safer Streets plan. Check back for an update on the recommendations in about two months' time.

Thanks for your interest. We have added you to the project email list.
